OASIS YOUTH SUPPORT
Oasis Youth Support (OYS) is an umbrella of services for young people in that Oasis Hub Waterloo run in partnership with St Thomas’ Hospital.
This partnership first started in 2010 in response to high rates of young people attending the hospital’s Emergency Department (A&E) due to violence and aggression.
St Thomas’ realised that by partnering with Oasis Hub Waterloo, combined expertise and effort could lead to not only medically treating young people more effectively, but also to reduce the risk-factors leading to their young patient’s health, safety and well-being issues in the first place.
The impact of having Oasis youth workers engaging and supporting these young people has been so transformative and impactful that the service has not only become an on-going, embedded, part of Oasis’ and St Thomas delivery, but it has also grown and expanded to encompass a wider-reaching body of youth work delivery with the hospital.
