At Hub Athletic we use football to engage young people, developing their football and team-working skills on the pitch, and supporting them to make positive life choices off it. Hub Athletic started life when a member of our community simply took a football onto the local London estates and began kicking a ball around with young people who were vulnerable to the risks presented by gang activity and youth crime.
We train 4-5pm on Wednesdays at Archbishop’s Park, and we’re open to 8-11-year-olds. We use football to develop self-awareness, leadership skills and to build long-term relationships that support young people throughout their teens through the difficult transitions into adult life. Our vision is to support positive life choices for each of our young people at every stage of their journey, and to build an open, inclusive community by building relationships and breaking down barriers here in Waterloo.
