You are welcome

If you’ve never been inside a church before, if you used to be a regular but haven’t been for years, if you’ve just moved to London and are looking for community; whatever story has led you to this point, you are welcome at Oasis Church Waterloo.

We meet on Sundays in the Oasis Auditorium at 11am for a relaxed, informal service (feel free to wear whatever you’d like – no need for ‘Sunday best’!) and supported by a parent/carer and baby space, kids’ church and youth church. There’s more info about Sundays here, and if you’ve never been to a church service before, there’s a quick overview of what you can expect on a Sunday morning here.

If you’re coming on a Sunday morning, keep an eye out for our Connections team, who will give you a Welcome pack and answer any questions you might have – and even buy you a coffee!

We’re about more than Sundays

However, there’s much more to our church than just the Sunday services. Through the week we’re engaged in a range of activities, from small groups to community choirs, Foodbank to debt advice, and much more, all of which is an outworking of our desire to become the best example of ourselves and live like Jesus in our local community.

If you’d like to find out more, if you have any questions, or even if you’d simply like to arrange to meet with someone on a Sunday so you haven’t got to sit on your own, feel free to get in touch.

We’re inclusive

Many people come to us because of our inclusive faith (more on our LBGT+ inclusion here) – whatever your background, ethnicity, sexuality, you’re welcome to play a full part in our community. Recently we came across a poem which sums up a lot of what we believe it means to be an inclusive church, so we’ve edited to turn it into a welcome to Oasis Church:

Welcome to Oasis Church
Here we try to practise the generous Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This means you may be mixing with,
seekers, searchers and those who have been bruised,
those who rejoice and those who mourn,
those who are worn out, burnt out and exhausted,
those for whom life is filled with purpose and direction,
those in fulfilling relationships and those who have failed to love, been cheated in love or who are afraid to receive love,
those of various nationalities and sexualities,
those who are strong in their faith and those who are besieged by questions and doubts,
those rejected by other churches and those who have found meaningful community here for the first time,
those who have broken their promises,
those who have been betrayed,
those bowed down with burdens,
those for whom the grip of alcohol or work, drugs or sex, money or unnamed powers is getting stronger and those for whom that grip is loosening,
and goodness knows how many others…
indeed anyone like those Jesus chose to spend his time with.

We are not a private club – we are a community open to all people of goodwill.

And, though we are not yet strong and vulnerable enough
to show the unconditional love of God at all times,
we hope we are moving in that direction.

We’d love you to join us.

If you’d like to ask any questions before you come along, feel free to email us.
